An EZ curl bar weighs what its maker made it: the maker pages here print 17 to 30 lb for the usual bars, and one prints 7 kg: about 7 to 13.6 kg. RIGOR starts an EZ curl bar at 10 kg, or 25 lb in a pound gym, and lets you change it to your own.
How much does an EZ bar weigh?
There is no one weight. An EZ bar, also called a curl bar, weighs what its maker built it to weigh, and the product pages here print anything from 17 lb to 30 lb for the common bars, and CAP prints 7 kg. The figure for your bar is on its end cap, its manual or its maker's page.
RIGOR's gym setup starts an EZ curl bar at 10 kg in a kilogram gym and at 25 lb in a pound gym. That is a starting figure, not a measurement of any bar. The types of barbells page lists it beside the other bars.
What do makers say an EZ curl bar weighs?
| Bar | What the page prints | In kg |
|---|---|---|
| Titan Olympic EZ Curl Bar | Product Weight 20 lb | 9.1 kg |
| Titan Elite Series Rackable EZ Curl Bar | Product Weight 30 lb | 13.6 kg |
| Titan Rackable EZ Curl Fat Bar | Product Weight 57 lb | 25.9 kg |
| Rogue Curl Bar | Bar Weight 30LB | 13.6 kg |
| Body-Solid 2" Olympic Curl Bar | Product Weight 17 lbs; assembled weight 17lb / 7.71kg | 7.71 kg (maker) |
| Iron Bull Strength EZ Curl Bar | Weight 19lb | 8.6 kg |
| CAP Olympic EZ Curl Bar | Weighs 7KG | 7 kg (maker) |
Read it as seven bars. The spread is the point: the lightest is about 7 kg and the heaviest unloaded curl bar is Titan's fat bar, with a 48 mm grip, at 57 lb. Titan's own bars differ too: 20 lb for its Olympic EZ Curl Bar and 30 lb for its rackable one, and each page prints its own.
What is the EZ curl bar weight in kg?
It depends on the bar, so there is a range rather than a number. Converting the makers' pounds, the table runs from 7 kg (CAP's own figure) to 13.6 kg for the 30 lb bars, leaving out Titan's 57 lb fat bar. As a conversion, 1 lb is 0.45359237 kg, so 30 lb is 30 × 0.45359237 = 13.6 kg.
RIGOR's 10 kg default for a kilogram gym is inside that range but is not the same bar as the 25 lb default for a pound gym. As a conversion, 25 lb is 11.3 kg and 10 kg is 22.0 lb. The app keeps the two lists separate.
How much does a curl bar weigh with no weights on it?
The figures above are all for the bar with nothing loaded. Makers call it product weight, bar weight or just weight, and the Body-Solid page also prints an assembled weight of 17lb / 7.71kg for the same bar. Treat each as the empty bar.
A fixed (pre-loaded) EZ bar is different, because the weight is built in. Body-Solid sells fixed-weight EZ curl barbells from 20 to 110 lb, and Titan's fixed bars are named by weight: its 50 lb bar lists a product weight of 50 lb. The number on the label is the whole bar. RIGOR's gym setup has an item for these, "Fixed-weight barbells & EZ bars (pre-loaded)", with the list of weights 10 to 45 kg, in steps of 2.5 kg, or 20 to 110 lb, in steps of 10 lb, each on the rack as one available weight.
How much does a preacher curl bar weigh?
No page here sells a bar called a preacher curl bar, so there is no figure to give for one. A preacher curl is done with an EZ bar or a straight bar on a preacher bench, and the bar's weight is that bar's weight. Titan's Olympic EZ Curl Bar page lists preacher curls among its uses, and prints 20 lb. Its Rackable EZ Curl Fat Bar page lists them too, and prints 57 lb.
In RIGOR's equipment list the preacher bench has no load of its own: the catalogue lists "Preacher curl bench (free-weight)" with no weights. The bar you put on it is the item with the weight.
How do you set your own bar's weight?
Find the figure for your bar, then enter it where the app asks for the bar.
- Read the bar. Look for a figure on the end cap, then the maker's page or manual for the model. If neither has one, weigh the bar.
- Set it in gym setup. The EZ curl bar item holds its weight. Change it and the plates shown for each side follow it.
- Or use the calculator. The plate calculator has a Bar weight field that takes any bar weight, so a 30 lb curl bar works as well as a 45 lb one.
The sum is the same one as for any barbell, covered in plate math. Whether the bar is part of the number you lift is covered in does the bar count as weight, and the sizes of plates a curl bar takes are in weight plate sizes.
Set the EZ bar once in gym setup

When does this not apply?
This page lists what makers printed and how RIGOR's gym setup and the plate calculator take a bar weight, so there is no training study to cite.
Questions
How much is an EZ bar without weight?
It is the bar's own weight, and it depends on the maker. The pages here print 17 lb for Body-Solid, 19 lb for Iron Bull, 20 lb for Titan, 30 lb for Rogue and 7 kg for CAP.
Is the EZ bar 45 lbs?
Not on any page here. The usual EZ bars here print 17 to 30 lb, or 7 kg. A 45 lb bar is the standard Olympic barbell, which is a different bar.
Does an EZ curl bar weigh the same in kg everywhere?
No. Converted, the usual bars here run from 7 kg (CAP) to 13.6 kg for the 30 lb bars, Titan's 57 lb fat bar is 25.9 kg, and RIGOR's default for a kilogram gym is 10 kg.
What bar do you use for preacher curls?
No page here sells a bar called a preacher curl bar. A preacher curl is done with an EZ or straight bar on a preacher bench, so the weight is that bar's.
How heavy is a fixed EZ curl bar?
A fixed bar is sold at its total weight. Body-Solid sells fixed EZ curl barbells from 20 to 110 lb, and Titan's pages list weights such as 50 lb.
